Welcome to the City of Danielsville
A progressive city of Madison County
First, we would like to extend you a warm welcome from The City of Danielsville and encourage you to visit our city. The City of Danielsville is located in Madison County, and is conveniently located 10 minutes north of Athens; “Home of the Georgia Bulldogs”.
Danielsville was named for General Allen Daniel (1772-1836) who served as a Major-General of the Fourth Division of Georgia Militia 1812-17, and both state senator and representative of Elbert and Madison Counties. In 1812, Danielsville was designated seat of the newly formed Madison County. Danielsville was incorporated as a town in 1817 and as a city in 1908.
With a population of approximately 600 households, Danielsville is a small quite community at the close of each day; making it a great place to raise a family. However, as the designated county seat, Danielsville is a busy community during the daylight hours; providing services to a population of over 5,000. Danielsville is home to the Madison County Government Offices and to the majority of the primary and secondary educational institutions; including the Madison County Board of Education Offices, Danielsville Elementary, the Madison County High School “Red Raiders”, and the Broad River College and Career Academy. Also located within the city limits is Easter Seals Head Start, which provides both Early Learning and Pre-K programs. Although we are an economic center for the area, we are proud to maintain “that small town feel.”
City Council has established a vision for the future of our city and as we review our existing comprehensive plan, and begin to create a new one, city and community leaders can visualize the future potential for Danielsville. Council and Staff have diligently set out to ensure we are achieving our goals as a community while maintaining fiscal responsibility. We are committed to working alongside our residents and businesses to provide the best quality of life we can. We do this by giving our citizens readily accessible information on our city services, operations, and any events taking place. The State of the City is good and we are excited about the future.
Our community has history, wonderful neighborhoods and natural beauty of the landscapes can be found throughout. But, for all of our natural beauty and historical significance it is our citizens that make Danielsville a fantastic place to live, work, play and do business.
Please take a few minutes to explore our website to learn more about our community and what we have to offer. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or ideas that would make our community a better place. The Danielsville City Council and I are committed to engaging our citizens about the future of our community through open and honest discussions.
So whether you're a resident, a business owner, or a visitor thinking of making Danielsville your home, we are here to provide you with outstanding municipal services - a vital part of any great community's quality of life.
